Puppy Love: Dogs as Therapy

Feeling ruff? Come and meet our friendly pups and welcome the Chinese Year of the Dog. Animal Assisted Therapy expert speaker Diane Hardiman will guide you through the world of therapeutic pets, explaining how animals can help enhance the lives of people in need – bringing them joy and comfort.

The talk will be followed by a session interacting with trained therapy dogs, led by volunteers from the charity Pets As Therapy.

About the speaker

Diane Hardiman

MA Psychotherapy & Counselling, Dip Supervision, PGCE

Diane has been working as a counsellor, with her Companion Animals for nearly 20 years. Her interest in Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) began during her counsellor training whilst she was working as a research scientist at Harefield Hospital.

Diane has lectured in Counselling at the University of Southampton, and now supervises diploma students and teaches on the BA in Counselling at Peter Symonds College in Winchester. In addition, she runs workshops for counsellors and other mental health professionals.
