Pureland Series: Grief Works with Julia Samuel
From 6
18:30 to 19:45
Tue 7 Nov

The November Pureland Series evening will see grief expert Julia Samuel MBE joined by Victoria Milligan and Tom Bradbury, as they discuss the effects and stages of grief, coping with loss and how individuals re-define themselves after death.

Julia Samuel is a psychotherapist specialising in grief and has spent the last twenty-five years working with bereaved families. Her first book Grief Works: Stories of Life, Death and Surviving, was published in 2017.

Victoria Milligan lost her youngest daughter and husband in a boat accident in Cornwall in 2013. She has spoken openly about her struggles with the loss of her husband and daughter, her grief and the impact on her family. As part of the discussion, Julia and Victoria will be talking about the tragedy of child bereavement, from helping a child deal with grief, to a family coping with the loss of a child.

The evening will be compered by TV journalist and ITV News at 10 presenter, Tom Bradby. Tom began his career as ITV’s Ireland correspondent, reporting from Northern Ireland during the pivotal peace process, and then as ITV’s Asia correspondent, during which time he was badly injured whilst covering the Jakarta riots of 1999.

The evening is part of Pureland Series, which curates innovative programmes with the aim of enriching lives through creativity, spirituality and self-expression.

The Series showcases the vision and work of the Pureland Foundation, which supports social, spiritual and emotional wellness through art and music.
