We’re delighted to have been awarded the National Lottery Heritage Fund to present The Making of Chinatown: a Summer Exhibition Celebrating and Exploring the History of the Chinese Community in Chinatown from the 1960s to Present Day. The exhibition will document the development of the area as well as share the stories of those that worked, shaped and lived in the area.

As part of the exhibition we are going to capture the living stories of the people that experienced and helped develop the area and so we are excited to recruit volunteers that will be trained in capturing oral histories. Through the training you will  gain not only confidence skills but also an overview of oral history and understanding memory, how to approach interview question, ethical issues surrounding recording oral histories as well as an introduction to audio recording equipment,  We are also searching for people who want to tell their personal stories and experiences and have the chance to tell everyone what Chinatown meant to them then and what it means now.

If you are interested and want to find out more about the project, sign up to be a volunteer, or share you stories about the area please join us for an open evening with refreshments where you can ask questions about the project and meet the dedicated team involved!

The information evening is free to attend, registration required.
