Chinese painting is one of the oldest artistic traditions in the world. Closely related to Chinese calligraphy but with its own brush control techniques, Chinese painting focuses not only on reproducing the appearance of an object, but also capturing its spirit.

In this workshop lead by award-winning art teacher Jianchu Xu, you will discover different types of Chinese painting, from meticulous detail to ink wash painting, from painting landscapes, to birds and flowers.

About the teacher:

Mr. Jianchu Xu is chairman of the Chinese Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Society in the UK. He won the Award of Excellence at the 2011 Chinese Calligraphy Competition held in the UK and the Special Award at the 2014 International Chinese Calligraphy Competition.

This is a free event. Please register to let us know you are coming.

China in Context is organised by China Exchange and Cypress Books.
