Lord Lamont

Lord Lamont was asked to “spill the beans”. The China Exchange audience heard his experience of working with Margaret Thatcher “The most unreasonable person I ever met. Often when you thought she was extremely unreasonable, she turned out to be right” and what it was like to inherit the ERM decision as Chancellor. A vocal proponent of Brexit, Lord Lamont shared his views on the political, rather than economic, reasons for wanting the UK to leave. This centred upon his objection to political unification.

Lord Lamont Quote: "In politics, people are surprisingly straight forward. The politics of business are worse than the politics of politics. Politics is about fighting for ideas."
