Simon Murray

Simon Murray used his 60 minutes to talk about his experiences in China and his 51 years in Hong Kong. He spoke of his hope to see the relationship between America and China flourish and thus secure world peace. “Blame” became a theme and Simon cautioned against the trend to blame China for every ill in the world economy. He talked about the rapid growth of the Chinese middle class and the impact of changing lifestyles on levels of Chinese health – 109 million diabetics and counting. Simon reminded the audience that “everything in life is a comparison”. He said “China’s growth today is on an economy of a much larger scale. The percentage share of an apple is the not the same as the percentage share of a grapefruit.”

Simon Murray quote: Do not follow where the path may lead you. Go where there is no path and leave a trail.
