Nicholas Parsons has had an extraordinary career as an actor, host and presenter of both TV and radio. He’ll appear at China Exchange as part of the Prudential Series.
After moving to London in the 1950s, he was resident comedian at the Windmill Theatre and worked on a large number of variety shows. He first gained television success by playing the straight man to other comedians including Arthur Haynes and Benny Hill. These experiences were reflected in his autobiography The Straight Man – My Life in Comedy was published in 1994.
He has taken roles in iconic and cult shows throughout his career including Dr Who and the Rocky Horror Show. Nicholas has chaired BBC Radio 4’s Just a Minute for over 40 years and hosted ITV’s Sale of the Century on television for 14 years.
