This year, as part of China Exchange’s Chinese New Year Celebrations, we will be hosting a family day in partnership with the charity Mothers Bridge of Love. They are a charity who have been supporting Chinese children from all corners of the world since 2004, with the aim of bridging the huge poverty gap that still exists in China today.

Together, we have organised fun filled activities for all the family, as well as a unique interactive art performance by Echo Morgan. Taking place in the heart of Chinatown, families will have the opportunity to learn more about Chinese Abacus, learn how to create stunning Calligraphy, dress up in traditional Chinese clothing and even watch Taiji sword dancing!

The interactive contemporary performance is structured throughout the day between 11:30-2:30, with 4 themes based on seasons.  The artist Echo Morgan (also known as Xie Rong) is described as “juxtaposing English narration with Chinese traditional folk song to play with her complex hybrid identity”,  it will make for a fascinating adaptation and perception of Chinese New Year in the UK.

The activities will take place on the doorstep of the New Year Parade between 11am-3pm, so get yourself out of the cold and into a room full of Chinese activities, providing fun and education for all the family!

The event is free.
