Join us for the evening of the Lantern Festival, the last day of Chinese New Year, to celebrate and view the short documentaries produced through Doc in a Day: Chinese New Year. Selected documentaries from the competition will be screened, during which a panel of professional filmmakers – artist and film maker Xiaowen Zhu, Richard Melman, Executive Producer and Managing Director of the award winning Spring Films  and Thomas Meadmore, the filmmaker behind How to Lose Jobs and Alienate Girlfriends – will select the winning documentary and runner up.  Enjoy an evening showcasing different perspectives and fresh talent all wrapped up with a sociable atmosphere in the China Exchange bar.

To give you a taster of what to expect on the night watch the below short documentary: “Whose Imagination”.
Voted the Doc of the Year at London Documentary Network’s recent End of Year Party, this film focuses on the perception of Women in the spotlight and “leaving things to the imagination”. Made by Josh Ho, Alex Hyndman and Bethan Stacey.

 

ABOUT LONDON DOCUMENTARY NETWORK:

London Documentary Network (LDN) is a non-profit organisation founded by a group of documentary enthusiasts, best known for their “Doc in a Day” 36-hour filmmaking competitions which have attracted over 200 budding filmmakers, and helped facilitate the creation of over 40 short documentary films. Doc in a Day judges have included Thomas Meadmore (National Geographic, Discovery, Channel 4, “How To Lose Jobs and Alienate Girlfriends”); Nic Guttridge (Channel 4, Discovery, BBC, “Through a Child’s Eyes”); and Sophie Robinson (BBC, Discovery, “My Beautiful Broken Brain”). The Doc in a Day competition in January will mark the 7th competition and screening that London Documentary Network has held since September 2015.
