Lord Heseltine

Lord Heseltine spoke of a lunch he reluctantly attended in 1973. One of his dining companions said “I must tell you that China is going to change”. The man then explained that China would be be opening up and would present an extraordinary opportunity. The then-Minister, Lord Heseltine was convinced and went on to create links, relationships and develop a deep understanding of the Chinese opportunity.  In his talk at China Exchange, Lord Heseltine described the experience of seeing all that was hailed about China coming true; the Hong Kong handover; and his strong opinion that Britain should remain part of the European Union.

Lord Heseltine quote: What China has done is move from a peasant economy to a space age economy in a third of a century.
