China Exchange’s Made in Chinatown range will take a step into Soho this festive period with a 12-day pop-up shop at 98 Berwick Street. Made in Chinatown brings together artists, community members and volunteers to create unique and beautiful products that share the hidden stories of London’s Chinatown. The products are sold to fund heritage and community projects.
The shop, provided with support by Shaftesbury plc, will showcase the high quality small batch produced Made in Chinatown products including the brand new Layers of Chinatown created through artist Cherie Kwok’s 2022 residency as a pop-up exclusive range.
China Exchange volunteers are designing, staffing and running the shop throughout the pop-up period. Over 30 people will be donating their time to create the festive welcome for the Made in Chinatown pop-up shop this Christmas.
The shop will also serve as a place to host workshops and community-focused activities and show Yours, Mine, Ours, a new exhibition focused on identity, inclusion, representation and encouraging conversations about social justice created through the charity’s Chinatown Recovery programme, which aims to support Chinatown’s recovery with a particular focus on covid-19 related racism.

ABOUT MADE IN CHINATOWN
Made in Chinatown brings together artists, community members and volunteers to create unique and beautiful products that share the hidden stories of London’s Chinatown.
Through community workshops and Artist-in-Residence programmes, our products are developed collectively by people who are passionate about raising the awareness of the cultural significance of this iconic district in London. These products represent the cultural identities of the diverse and changing Chinatown communities and aim to enrich your connections with this special neighbourhood.
The items, produced by our project Made in Chinatown, feature the work of internationally exhibited artists Pui Lee, Ekta Kaul, Odella Yue, Dora Lam and Cherie Kwok. Each artist completed a residency in London’s Chinatown and held workshops and activities with volunteers and community group members to inform their work. All designs seek to highlight the areas of Chinatown that held significance for people and connected their experiences with this special place.
