Opportunities to understand China, Chinese culture and Chinatown

China Exchange welcomed the one of Hong Kong’s most renowned screenwriters and film producers, Roger Lee 李恩霖 on Tuesday evening 13 March, as part of the Hong Kong programme at China in Context Festival.

During the conversation with Dr Luke Robinson, Lecturer in Film Studies in the Department of Media and Film, University of Sussex, Roger Lee discussed his film, as well as his previous accounting career and how he transmitted the skills from one to another.

Another focus of the event was A Simple Life, a film based on Roger Lee’s own life experience with his housemaid Taojie, who worked for Lee’s family for over four decades. Roger Lee shared many stories from behind the scenes on the film set.

Following the discussion, the audience watched a screening of The Simple life – the first full-length feature film shown at China Exchange.

This event was generously supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office.
